BIMM Institute is a group of eight colleges offering university degrees and real-world experience in the music and events industries. They offer world-class lecturers, state of the art facilities and universally recognised courses.

Syntiro Associates worked with DRPG and BIMM to develop an event sustainability module that is delivered across one post-graduate diploma and three BA (hons) university courses. The 24-week university course is taught at industry standard and equips students with the theory and the toolkit that can be used throughout their career to confidently communicate and practice event sustainability.

DRPG and Syntiro Associates use their expertise to engage students in the increasing importance of sustainability within the events and creative industries. Students learn the steps involved in event sustainability management and how to use analytical tools, including specifically designed route maps and assorted templates, to negotiate and analyse key areas of sustainability management. The course uses the International Standard for Event Sustainability; ISO 20121 as a framework to apply a Plan, Do, Check, Act model of continual improvement.

Working predominantly with event management students, the course Syntiro and DRPG have developed encourages sustainability to be embedded throughout the whole event cycle and addresses the potential issue of sustainability being a bolt-on.

The team has successfully engaged with hundreds of students that have gone on to work within the events and creative industries, sharing their understanding and practical applications with a diverse range of industry professionals. Due to the unique nature of the course content, these students have moved on in their professional careers with a deeper understanding of how to address sustainability issues and apply industry best practice.
